WESTRIDGE CLEAN-UP PROJECT: Recently, we have experienced two accidents on Westridge Road. Our new Block Captains, Jessica Berman (1700 block) and Curt Eckhert (1800 block) are working to meet the neighbors to reiterate the necessity of cutting overgrown brush to allow better visibility on the road. Don’t wait for Jessica and Curt to contact you if you have overgrown brush. Don’t wait for an accident to be a good neighbor. Check the frontage of your properties on Westridge. CLEAN IT UP.

NO PARKING ON WESTRIDGE: Homeowners’ rights are infringed upon by a few who ignore proper planning to have cars legally parked in NO PARKING AREAS. Blocking the street with valets and over-parking is discourteous and dangerous. If you are planning an evening event and require that your guests park on Westridge Road it is the law that you pull a Temporary Parking Permit. Otherwise, you subject your guests to expensive parking violations at the end of an evening of good cheer. These can be obtained through the City of Los Angeles Department of Transportation. Their number is 213-485-2298. Reputable valet companies can accommodate this request

WESTRIDGE BRIDGE MAINTENANCE: Westridge Road neighbors asked that the bridge be cleaned and your MCA listened. The bridge has become part of the normal maintenance cycle of the Canyon gardeners. The Westridge Bridge is of historical importance because of its age and neo-classical design. Any homeowner having additional information about the
bridge or its year of construction, please contact news@MandevilleCanyonAssociation.com
so that we can add it’s lore to our historical archives.

PEOPLE’S PARK TO GET FACE-LIFT: New Block Captain Katherine Thompson from Oakmont Drive is working with her neighbors to update our park on the corner of Oakmont Drive and Mandeville Canyon Road. Be on the lookout for this new beautification project to take shape. Anyone wishing to donate a tree or vine, please contact us at news@MandevilleCanyonAssociation.com

RIBBON CUTTING CEREMONY FOR OUR NEW ENTRANCE:
Please join City Councilman Bill Rosendahl to celebrate the new improvements at the intersection of Mandeville Canyon Road and Sunset Boulevard.

DATE: Monday, October 29,2007
TIME: 10AM
WHERE: The Entrance to Our Canyon

We will all join the Councilman in thanking the City Departments and crews who worked on this project along with all of our own community members who continued to provide input and unwavering support throughout the project from start to finish. This project has been a wonderful success.

SAFETY COMMITTEE TO BE FORMED: MCA is organizing a Safety Committee that will be charged with creating a community awareness program on the necessity to prepare for an emergency. This will include fire, earthquake, or a man-made disaster that might require evacuation and/or “Shelter in Place” preparation. If you would be interested in serving on such a worthwhile community effort please express your interest though the following email: news@MandevilleCanyonAssociation.com

As the LAFD says, “If it’s predictable, it’s preventable”.

MCA COMMUNITY HANDBOOK: This long-awaited second and revised Community Handbook is soon to be distributed. All dues paying members of MCA will receive the book. All “new” residents in the Canyon within the last three years will receive this green book filled with Mandeville’s history, hiking and biking trails, important numbers and safety information. In addition, per MCA Board vote, all elderly residents without the wherewithal to support dues, will also receive the Handbook.  Be on the look-out for community volunteers to distribute this handy book to your door.

If you haven’t paid dues and want the book, mail your dues to:
MCA,  P.O. Box 49802, Los Angeles, CA 90049
