SUNSET MANDEVILLE RIBBON CUTTING CEREMONY

Marianne Perls Joins Bill Rosendahl at the Podium

“This project was brought to reality by many dedicated people and was a dream that began more than 23 years ago. It started on Councilman Braude’s watch, and was designed, negotiated, renegotiated, and redesigned with numerous meetings during Cindy Miscikowski’s service as Councilwoman. But it is Bill Rosendahl, who is a tireless, problem solving, can do, find-a-way Councilman who made this project a reality.

This was a project of incredible teamwork.   Thanks to everyone’s cooperation, compromise and hard work this is a win/win project. Instead of concrete sidewalks we got decomposed granite walkways for the safety of our horses.

Instead of plastic city bus benches with all the advertisements, we were allowed to reinstall our redwood benches.  We were even allowed to design the entrance to our wonderful canyon and the City installed it
For Mandeville Canyon and our homeowners this is a dream come true 23 years later."

HOLIDAY LIGHTS ARE LIT – A COMMUNITY EFFORT
The Holiday Lights Program was officially lit on November 13th. Most of the kinks have been ironed out and the additional split rail fences installed over the past year are now brightly lit with twinkling lights.

Many volunteers work to make this a successful project for the homeowners and our visitors to enjoy.  If you’d like to make a donation to this community-funded program please send a check to:

MCA
1754 Mandeville Canyon Road
Los Angeles, CA 90049

We’ll add it to the kitty to add more lights than ever.
Thank you!

MCA HANDBOOKS ARE BEING DELIVERED –
HAVE YOU RECEIVED YOURS?

SLOW DOWN GETTING OUT OF THE CANYON:

All of us are busy, but not at the expense of hurting ourselves or others. Please respect our laws: STOP at the STOP SIGNS. Be courteous to pedestrians or neighbors trying to pull out of their driveways.
Follow the GOLDEN RULE:
Do Unto Others As You Would Have Them Do Unto You. You’ll feel better!

REVERSE DIRECTORY 9-1-1 New City System for Emergencies

The city's reverse 911 program enables the Fire Department to notify us by phone, e-mail, or both, of emergencies, or red flag days. This system was used in San Diego County during their fires, and many citizens said it was an "effective way to issue evacuation orders."  In order to receive an automatic reverse 911 call, or e-mail on red flag days, you can sign up at  www.lafd.org/redflag
We hope you find this information useful!

CRIME REPORT

Two incidents during the past month illustrate the positive impact of homeowners being on the alert. On Sunday, November 18th an unidentified male was seen entering the rear yard of a home under construction. A neighbor observed this and promptly placed a call to the homeowner who lives off-site. He returned quickly to the property and took down the license plate number of the intruder and reported it to police who made an arrest. An investigation is under way.

A biker was assaulted by a vehicle traveling up Lower Westside Road on November 2nd. This hit and run was also witnessed by another bicyclist and their detailed report of the automobile was circulated throughout the Canyon.   A homeowner spotted a matching

vehicle at the end of a cul-de-sac. The biker subsequently verified this to be a similar vehicle and a police investigation is underway.

THE FACE OF MANDEVILLE: This is a new segment to our Newsletter and will feature a different resident each edition.

Elaine and Leo Klein have been residents of Mandeville Canyon since 1963 when they built their lovely home on Westridge Road. They have raised a daughter in the neighborhood and love the community. Their view is a good reason why; they enjoy a view from the Santa Monica Mountains to downtown Los Angeles, and over to the spectacular coastline of the Santa Monica Bay. The Kleins are interested in the arts and have established an endowed scholarship at the UCLA School of the Arts and Architecture.
Say “Hello” to your neighbors, the Kleins.

If you want to volunteer for this feature, let us know: news@MandevilleCanyonAssociation.com
