MAN’S BEST
FRIEND
– Recently we have had two
lost (and found) dogs. In
each instance posters went
up, emails went out, and the
little animals were
successfully returned to
their families. These are
heartwarming stories.
While we like to believe
everyone loves dogs, we also
know, everyone DOES NOT
appreciate owners who don’t
clean up after their beloved
pet on the Canyon People’s
Paths. As more paths are
constructed, now is a good
time to remind everyone of
the responsibilities of
ownership.
Please
be good citizens, and pick
up. |

NEW NEIGHBORS
– Our Canyon community
is a dynamic environment.
Neighbors come and Neighbors
go. Please write us if you
have new neighbors on your
block. One of our Block
Captains or Hospitality
Committee volunteers will
deliver our handy green MCA
Handbook and welcome your
new neighbors into our
community. Also let us know of
any pertinent changes that
you are aware of so we
can maintain an accurate
database.

WILDLIFE IN THE CANYON
– Mountain Lion and
Coyotes – The Residents of
Oakmont have had an eventful
week with regular sightings
of coyotes and a rare
sighting of a mountain lion.
Neighbors of Mandeville have
seen a bold coyote in their
rear yards as well. These sightings
remind us
of the fact that we share
our habitat with wild
creatures and should respect
their space but insure our
safety. Here is a good
article to review…

THE FACE OF
MANDEVILLE -
Cassy and Kirk Aoyagi are
the owners of C & L
Landscape Design, Inc. They
have generously donated
their time in the design of
a sustainable
drought-resistant park for
the corner of Oakmont and
Mandeville Canyon. This is a
“people’s park” which the
community has asked be
improved/re-created in an
effort to provide a more
useful park-like setting for
Canyon visitors and
residents alike. Cassy
Aoyagi is the daughter of
MCA homeowners’ Al and Myra
Rosen who have lived many
years on Westridge Road. Al
Rosen is a past Board Member
of MCA and has made the 1st
donation for the
installation of the park.
Oakmont Park is a
collaborative effort by the
Aoyagis, MCA, local
residents, and
the
newly formed Mandeville
Canyon Preservation and
Conservation Foundation.
By working with a committed
volunteer group and
c ivic-minded homeowners, MCPCF can
accept tax deductible
contributions that will help
maintain the intrinsic
quality of life of Canyon
life that we enjoy and also
provide ecologically
responsible public and
community-based improvement
projects.
