MCA AT WORK

BEWARE:  IRRESPONSIBLE BUILDING IN MANDEVILLE

Mandeville Canyon Association supports responsible building. But, building on hillside property requires thorough analysis of many aspects of building codes and an understanding of the long-term impact a project might have on the community. We know from experience that not only do adjoining property owners require protection from safety hazards and infringement of rights, but our natural landscape and environment requires guardianship and protection as well.

The City is great at a lot of things but they are also understaffed and overworked at times. MCA assists its neighbors in conjunction with the City in issues of safety, proposed developments, variance and the rights of the public and private homeowners.  MCA helps support the flow of information and communication.  It is important to know that the City does not require builders to issue performance bonds or surety bonds to protect surrounding homeowners from possible damages caused by irresponsible builders and/or developers. Such issues can become costly civil matters.   Neighbors should learn to be on the look out and be advocates for themselves because the City does not know all of the issues that affect our Canyon.

It has been the mission of MCA for more than 65 years to promote safety and protect and preserve the natural beauty and country-like quality of our neighborhood and environment.

WE NEED YOUR HELP:  TAKE DOWN THOSE GATES!

If you or your parents ever used the dirt road connecting Rockingham Avenue and Mandeville Canyon, we need your help in signing affidavits. This road was first built in 1914 and has been enjoyed by our community and the public for generations whether it is by foot, bicycle or horseback. It has also served as an escape route from our Canyon during disasters.

Because of the public outcry to this closure, MCA and 5 other homeowner associations are working to re-open this enclosed area of this road. Write us an email at: News@MandevilleCanyonAssociation.com.

SULLIVAN CANYON RIDING CLUB:

Some residents are automatically members - If you are wishing to take lessons or ride your horse at the Sullivan Canyon Riding Club here is some information you might want to know:

There is a waiting list of up to 2 years to join this popular facility.  However, there is no waiting to join if your home is located between 1600 – 1890 Mandeville Canyon Road.  All side roads including Kimberly and south there of (including Old Orchard Road, Reedvale Lane, Mandeville Lane and up to 1743 Westridge Road) become automatic members should they wish to join.  These boundaries were granted with the installation of 6-foot wide decomposed granite paths that provide horses’ safe access to the riding rinks.

Perhaps these guidelines could change if our community decided to install DG paths all the way up to the 2700 block.  Just imagine
