NEW FORMAT:

Our Newsletter has been revamped with more color and links back to our website and other websites with community news. We’re trying to do more outreach and keep you more informed about the community and our efforts to improve our canyon and ridges. Send your comments and suggestions to news@MandevilleCanyonAssociation.com

SUNSET/MANDEVILLE PROJECT:

Nina Cohen, MCA’s VP of Governance, has been working closely with the City of LA to monitor the progress of the construction site and to insure the attractive replacement of our community landscaping and electrical equipment. While it was recently reported that the construction would be finished per the initial due date of August 22nd, that date has unfortunately been pushed back to September 1st

On the Safety signpost you can easily access current Crime Stats for

West L.A. from the LAPD website.

DUES ARE DUE:

We are currently at a 45% collection ratio for our annual budget. If you have forgotten to pay your dues, we need your support. Dues are $100.00 and should be remitted to:

Mandeville Canyon Association

P.O. Box 49802

Los Angeles, CA 90048

Your association is actively reinvesting your dues and donations into safety, maintenance and improvement projects in our community.

MCA AT WORK:

MCA is working with homeowners to clear away overgrown brush on Chalon Road. We are requesting that neighbors whose properties abut Chalon Road be good citizens in checking for overgrown brush and clearing it.  Dry and overgrown brush is causing severe visibility problems and fire hazards to our neighbors on Chalon Road.

MCA is also in process of contacting homeowners on lower Westridge Road to assist in creating better visibility for motorists and safer passage for pedestrians and bicyclists by clearing their brush and vegetation back from the street.

We have 8 new Block Captains beginning community training in July.  These couples are the seed

of a grass roots effort to make our community more neighborly and better informed. We’ll be introducing them soon. Look for them to be handing out the new and updated Handbooks. Thank you Block Captains!!

Look for the green and white "MCA At Work" signs on your block to see your association working to make it better neighborhood.

Dangerous Fire Season:   Have you cleared back your brush and trimmed your trees? Please do your part to protect your property, your canyon and its' ridges.

2007 currently stands as the driest rain season to date since records were first compiled in 1877.  Since the year began on July 1, 2006, only 3.21 inches of rain have fallen on los Angeles, which is nearly a foot below normal  and only 22% of the normal rainfall for this period.

Note that because of this very dry season, we will see much more wild life looking for food and water.  Please drive slowly, and be respectful of our canyon's wildlife.

FIRE PATROL/WATCH:                                                                              This was a safety watch program in the Canyon years ago. Anyone interested in reviving this program on days of extremely low humidity and high temperatures should contact Helen Albright through MCA at news@mandevilleCanyonAssociation.com.
